Food


Gotō is considered a sacred place in the world of fishing. The fish are abundant and fresh both in summer and winter, and a variety of seasonal seafood can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons.
Another feature of the islands is that because they are not connected to land, all agricultural produce is ‘locally produced’.
In particular, Goto beef, raised on mineral-rich grass, is produced in such small quantities that it is said to be a mirage.
Such luxurious island foodstuffs = the light of the region, delivered in the most delicious way, while paying respect to the producers.
This is the basic philosophy of ray dining.
Finally, as the essence of the dish, we have combined a story with the theme of light to complete the Goto Retreat’s original ‘Hikari no Wagyoku’.

On mornings when you wake up feeling good, enjoy a supreme breakfast. Not only fish, but also vegetables and root vegetables are produced in Gotō. The vegetables and root vegetables are mainly grown in small quantities and in many varieties, allowing you to feel the flavor of the ingredients. The ingredients are carefully handmade by artisans using ingredients procured on the island, which are delivered daily. Freshly cooked white rice is served with miso soup made with local barley miso. The menu is a healthful “Japanese-style meal” centered on fish and vegetables. For guests staying for consecutive nights, a different menu is offered every day. Breakfast

Experience a fully panoramic ocean view, as an angelic light breaks through the clouds and washes away all your worries.
The very same eternal scene that men of the past have gazed upon, also viewable through your open air bath.
We offer four types of rooms, each with a capacity of between one to four guests.

All these rooms have an ocean view, and can accommodate up to three guests. From the moment you leave your bed in the morning, you are greeted by a view of the blue waters from your window. The open-air baths allow you to bathe while enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the waves, while you relax and enjoy skin care products made with native Goto Camellia flowers

This 70 square-meter room can comfortably accommodate up to three guests, and across the spacious sofa is a large window that opens up to a view of the blue sea and the Abunze volcanic coast, formed when Mt. Onidake erupted over three million years ago. The open-air baths allow you to bathe while enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the waves, while you relax and enjoy skin care products made with native Goto Camellia flowers. We have one room that is wheelchair-accessible.

Tucked away in a corner room on the first floor, this private room boasts large windows that offer a view of serene forests and viridian grass, as well as the expansive blue of the ocean between then. Light reflects and bounces from the basin of the open-air bath, reflecting and shimmering onto the ceiling, before bathing you in light.
